
To put this in perspective:

Why?
- Many more people are interested in watching crazy videos than looking at pretty pictures on the web.
- Flickr caters to the "boutiquie" web too-oh crowd while YouTube caters to the MySpace generation.
- You-tube had little competition out of the gate while Flickr had to deal with: yahoo photos, snapfish, kodack gallery etc.

When YouTube gets big enough to be worth suing, they're fucked. Well over half the content they're hosting--and I would bet the content that gets the most traffic--is copyrighted.
